Have you tried authentic Bavarian cuisine? It’s filling, flavorful, and oh-so meaty. There’s actually a restaurant in Maryland where it’s served up just right, along with a boot-full of beer! Check out this authentic eatery that’s like stepping out of Maryland, and right into Germany.
Schmankerl Stube is located in downtown Hagerstown.
It's seemingly ordinary from the exterior...
...but step right in, and its as if you were transported to Old Bavaria.
Classic finishes and German memorabilia decorate the walls. But that's only the beginning.
Everybody comes for the food, and it's not hard to see why. According to the restaurant website, "Bavarian immigrant Charles Sekula saw something missing from the German heritage connected to the Hagerstown area – a German-based restaurant."
All of the Bavarian dishes are authentic, from meaty meals...
...to classic cabbage rolls.
Marylanders will be pleased to find that some entrees are topped with lump crab meat.
I'm a sauerkraut fan myself, and this looks so, so good.
Did you spot that beer glass in the previous photo? When you order a brew, it comes in boot-shaped glass. Think you can guzzle down the whole thing?
Want to try a little bit of everything? Then head to Schmankerl Stube every Sunday from 11am until 2pm. The brunch buffet is a must-try. Click here for details.
