Over the past few years, Maine has made a name for itself as a destination for those who love a deliciously prepared meal. With James Beard Award winners and other chefs who are notable in a variety of unique ways, we’ve seen new restaurants and more tourists in search of a special meal. There’s no denying that Maine is great when it comes to food, but there are a number of places that have been around for decades that are arguably even better than the new spots. This is one of them!
If there's another circus-themed deli in Maine we haven't found it. And, quite frankly, we wouldn't want to. The Big Top Delicatessen in Brunswick is all we need!
The menu features hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches and an entire board of make-your-own ingredients. You can also get burgers, breakfast sandwiches, soups, and salads.
What we love most is that the sandwiches aren't looking to be unnecessarily fussy. You get your ingredients, which are the best around. And you get it on the bread you choose with a bag of chips. It's perfect for those tired of the pomp and circumstance that seems to come with just ordering lunch these days.
But make sure to spend a little time exploring the walls. The circus theme runs throughout the space and we love that lunch can easily take you back to being a kid.
Big Top Delicatessen is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn more about it here or check them out on Facebook. They can be reached on 207-721-8900.
