Tomhegan dates all the way back to the early 1900s when the cabins were built by Russell Spinney and his wife Blanche, along with the landowner Douglas Rollins. Back then, the only access to the camp was by water and when guests arrived, the experience was one of luxury. Three meals and helpers to make fires made this a destination that was extra-special.

Russell and Blanche had a daughter, Marjorie Spinney, who took over running the camp with her husband in 1951 when her parents died. She had a road put in, which changed the access to Tomhegan allowing more people to visit and make memories here.

Marjorie loved wild animals and was well-known in the area for caring for things big and small.

In fact, one of the best parts of a visit to Tomhegan is the friendly deer who are safe and at home here at the camps.

There are nine cabins here and a main lodge that has five bedrooms and five bathrooms with sleeping accommodations for 26 people

Each cabin (and the lodge!) has some solid Maine camp vibes, which will make you feel comfortable upon first entering through the doors.

Each one also has plenty of room to find a comfortable little nook to enjoy your time away.

These cozy times are even better in the winter when snow covers just about everything.
