One of our favorite things about Maine is how resilient the people who live here can be. Whether it’s making our way through a snowstorm and helping neighbors or finding new ways to get through those a cold snap, there isn’t a lot you can throw at a Mainer that they can’t manage. And that includes finding a way to enjoy meals outdoors no matter what season we’re in. And this farm in the midcoast will help you do it!
Tops'l Farm in Waldoboro has been around since 1936 when the land was bought by M.S. Smith to provide a place for his family to enjoy the region. The farm was reimagined in a way when new owners, Sarah and Josh, purchased the farm. Today it offers overnight opportunities, including camping and a cottage as well as special meal events.
There's a ton to enjoy at Tops'l Farm throughout the year. In the spring they offer sugar shack experiences, in the summer they've got film nights, fall includes harvest events and from December 2020 through February 2021 they've got winter picnics!
And while we love the fun of this, it's the outdoor option we love the most. Make a reservation to book a space with a private fire pit and outdoor seating.
There's nothing more cozy than enjoying a meal filled with local goodies including fermented veggies and cured meats from Morse’s Sauerkraut just down the road.
And while things might get chilly outside during a Maine winter, we think a small group gathering around a fire to enjoy a meal is enough to warm you right up!
If you have a special occasion to celebrate you can book a totally private winter picnic for up to 40 people. Just be sure these people have all quarantined or that they're in your personal pod.
Tops’l Farm offers winter picnics from December 2020 through February 2021. You can learn more about them and how to book by checking out their website. You can also follow the farm on Facebook. If you have questions you can reach them on 207-832-1602. You can book their cottage on Airbnb.
