Over the last few years, Maine has made a name for itself as a destination for anyone looking for great food. Whether it’s a dessert or a four-course meal, there’s a place and a price point for everyone. The only problem we see is that much of the attention is reserved for the state’s larger cities and towns. Portland, Rockland, and even the smaller coastal towns with tons of tourists get plenty of attention, so today we’re turning our focus inland. There’s a small town that offers a great cafe and we’d be there every day if we could.
It's not hard to love PopOnOvers Cafe & Baked Goods in Pittsfield. In fact, it's the kind of place that's worth going out of the way to find.
Housed in a cute building, the inside is somehow even more lovable than the view from the outside. You'll find the menu on the wall and smiling faces ready to take your order behind the counter.
They're baked fresh each day and flavors change often. This is the Maine blueberry with lemon curd and it's exactly as good as you're probably imagining.
While you'll find traditional flavors like blueberry and corn muffins, we love the inventive recipes they come up with. Like these double chocolate raspberry filled muffins.
When you visit we recommend you set aside enough time to grab one of their savory lunches as well as a muffin or two. This place is worth splurging on!
PopOnOvers is open Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They’re closed on Sunday. They begin takeout and delivery at 11 a.m. You can learn a bit more about them by checking out their website and by following them on Facebook. They can be reached at 207-487-7074.
