One of our favorite things to share with you is nature. From scenic drives to fall foliage predictions, there’s a lot to love about getting outside in Maine. And luckily, there’s no shortage of options when we’ve got a hankering for fresh air! Depending on where you live (or visit!), there are a variety of different trails to enjoy. And while we do love a good summit, we can’t help but gravitate towards the trails offering those quintessential Maine water views. This one is off-the-beaten-path but totally worth the trip!
Quoddy Head State Park in Lubec is home to some of the best views in the Downeast region. It's also home to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. The famous red strips just feel like Maine and visiting might just be one of the best days out you can have in Vacationland.
The park has five different trails ranging in length from .2-miles to 1.3-miles. The Coast Guard Trail is right in the middle at .9-miles and it's also one of our favorites.
The trail meanders through the trees and because the state park is known to be one of the best areas for viewing wildlife, there's plenty to see while you hike.
And those foggy days? Well, they're great too! Take extra caution on rainy days, but remember that this is Maine and a little fog is what this place is all about.
Once you've completed the loop, consider checking out some of the other trails. Each one offers something different and a day out is perfect for calming the frazzled nerves we all might have right now.
Quoddy Head State Park is open from early April to early November. There are a number of different trails to try here, so be sure to make time for as many as you can! You can learn more about the park on the Maine Trail Finder website. You can learn more about the Coast Guard Trail on alltrails.com.
