My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
We here in Maine, like longevity — if a business has stuck it out through thick and thin for years then we know they are great people. It might have something to do with surviving rough winters year after year and our work ethic, but we like it when businesses stand the test of time. There is a little restaurant that you might have heard of, Whipper’s Pizza in Augusta, Maine. They not only have stood the test of time but they have been doing so brilliantly for over 6 whole decades now.
Sitting right past the northern rotary on Bangor Street sits a little building known as Whipper’s Pizza. They have gained quite a reputation over the years, even iconic legends like the L.L.Bean boot-mobile paid them a visit one afternoon.
Not much has changed in over 60 years. You will still get that same friendly service, the same booth seats, and the same great-tasting food. It is nostalgic going into a place that seems untouched by time, sure there are updates here in there, but the overall place looks just like it did back in the day. That is just yet, another reason to fall in love with Whippers.
The menu offers a wide variety of options. Pizza is usually everyone’s number one choice but the variety takes off from there. Start a meal with some cheese garlic bread sticks then move on to a main course meal like the original Big Whip.
They have a variety of dinner baskets to choose from which is always a Maine classic. Get some friend options like chicken, haddock, or shrimp, for a crunchy and delicious meal. We might be pretty close to Canada but not every restaurant offers our northern neighbor’s cuisine like poutine. You can get a heaping pile at Whipper’s and feel like you are in Quebec City, or at least your taste buds are.
Need a quick sandwich for lunch on the go? Whippers has some excellent hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, and dagwoods which are perfect for a quick bite to eat. Just about everything you could want in a sandwich is available, from Italians to BLTs this restaurant will have you covered.
As great as the nostalgia is inside you can also order ahead for pickup if you would like. If you are traveling or simply want to have a picnic on a nice summer day then you can pick up your order to go.
Whipper’s Pizza in Augusta, Maine, has been around for a long time now, and the quality of food and service shows. People have been going for decades and they remain a staple in our community. If you haven’t been, make sure to check them out and experience a restaurant with some serious longevity. For more information please visit the Whipper’s Pizza website.
