My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Surprises can be such a wonderful thing in life. Like when you have a group of friends that are all hiding to surprise you for a birthday party. When someone gets you a gift you were not expecting that can be exciting as well. We like to think of ourselves as gift-givers to you by showing you a surprise waiting for you at Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant in Bangor, Maine.
Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant might not be a secret because they have been around since the 80s.
They have gained quite a reputation for making incredibly delicious Mexican cuisine over the years. In fact, there was actually a slogan they used to go by "Mexican food so authentic, you’ll be afraid to drink the water". As funny as that is, the truth is, their food is quite real in every sense of the word. They cook with local ingredients as much as possible and use actual Mexican products to create a tour of our southern neighbors for your taste buds.
There are plenty of places to sit inside but on a warm day, you can sit outside. The experience is only enhanced by finding shade in this tropical setting.
For a place that is praised for decades of work in the kitchen serving up authentic Mexican food, you can expect some pretty impressive options on the menu.
Dig into a full chimichanga, melt over some sizzling fajitas, or get some good old classic tacos; the Mexican options are plentiful. But there is something else on the menu that surprises us in all of the best ways.
There are two burgers on the menu that are to die for. The first one is Miguel’s Signature Burger. A 6-oz. beef patty with cheese, bacon, lettuce, chipotle mayo, tempura jalapenos, and salsa fresca all make up this wonderful burger. As you can see, the burger still has a hint of Mexican flavoring.
The other option is the Jalapeno Bacon Jam Burger.
This tasty treat takes a 6-oz. beef patty and pairs it with homemade jalapeno bacon jam then adds lettuce and tomato. This burger packs quite a unique flavor and is wholly one-of-a-kind.
Miguel’s is a well-rounded experience and you might want to leave room for dessert.
We suggest going with another Mexican favorite, fried ice cream. This sweet treat takes classic vanilla or coconut ice cream put it on a crispy fried shell, then covers it with chocolate, almonds, and tops it all off with whipped cream. There is no way you can leave Miguel’s and not feel fully satisfied.
Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant in Bangor, Maine, certainly has a few tricks up its sleeves. They have provided amazing burgers in a very unlikely place. We are thankful to have such hard-working restaurants bringing the local taste of Maine, and marrying it with the spicy flavors of Mexico.
