Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Oh, Maine… our beautiful home, sweet home. Few things in life compare to the overwhelming beauty of this state, and those of us who live here are proud to call it home. After all, why wouldn’t we – it’s more than just outrageously photogenic! The folks here are kind, warm, and friendly, and the food here is to die for. Maine is such an amazing place that folks such as Wear Your Roots make entire clothing and accessory lines out of this pride, and we get it: Maine is incredible. Here are nine tell-tale signs that you’re either from Maine… or you belong here.
1. People who aren't from Maine specifically have a special designation.
It's not called the Maine lobster for nothing; this state is without a doubt THE lobster capital of the world, and thanks to its abundance 'round here, we get it for amazingly affordable prices too.
We're not even sure why. We just know that everyone's got such beautiful, decorated lawns, so we've gotta do one too. It's so charming and fun, and so, so very Maine.

4. You think puffins should be the official state bird because puffins > everything else.
Maine's official-official state bird is the black-capped chickadee, and although they're pretty cute, they're not puffin cute. Like.. come on. Look how cute he is.
5. You are of the opinion that blueberries go best with molasses.
And it's even better if both come from Maine, because... well, of course. We're pretty serious about made-in-Maine things here too. Oh, and if you've never had blueberry-molasses cake, you haven't LIVED.
No, it's not hot dogs made from fish (though it's hilarious when from-awayers think it is); these bright-red beacons of deliciousness are the anthem of every. Single. Summer.
7. And sometimes, you just need a good bean supper.
A bean supper is equal parts delicious and affordable, and the tradition for a long time has been to share with the whole community. A bean supper is more than just a meal; it's an event, and a wonderfully good-natured one at that. Only in Maine!
Did you know Maine is home to 65 lighthouses? Yep, and if you're from around here you've probably visited them all... twice. Maine's lighthouses are so incredibly photogenic that you can easily find entire calendars devoted just to them.
