My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Outside of winter, Carrabassett Valley, Maine can be fairly quiet. Beautiful mountains surround this little town and other than that, not much else is happening. However, when the snow starts to pile up, there is one place that starts to boom. People from all over start to flock to Sugarloaf Mountain as the go-to place for winter fun. Carrabassett Valley certainly comes alive during winter and all signs point to the ski resort as the hub of activities.
If you live in Maine, then chances are you’ve seen the iconic blue and white sugarloaf mountain sticker.
Kids will wear it on their jackets with pride, and there are probably a couple of hundred Suburu Outbacks with a window sticker or two driving around the state. We encourage you to see the mountain yourself. If you have not gone then there is nothing quite like driving around the corner and witnessing this mighty mountain covered in snow.
This has been a go-to place for thousands to make their yearly pilgrimage to the mountain. Hitting the slopes and spending a day enjoying some winter fun.
No doubt the charming little village of Sugarloaf takes on a personality of its own. This little piece of land is covered with buildings giving it a small mountain town feel. When the sun goes down the lights turn on and the entire village just looks magical.
The Windowmaker and The Bag and Kettle both serve up hearty meals to keep you going and provide a place to relax and enjoy a dish. There are plenty of options ranging from Mexican to coffee shops.
There are even places to shop in the village. Grab yourself a souvenir, a sweatshirt, or even a Sugarloaf sticker to put in the back window of your Suburu Outback.
If you want to extend your stay then places like the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel will have you staying right in the heart of the village. You will have a warm comfortable place to sleep and be ready the next morning for a long day of skiing.
Carrabassett Valley, Maine, may seem pretty chill during the other seasons but winter is when this little town comes to life. If you want to join in all the winter fun make sure to check out the Sugarloaf Mountain website for everything you need to know to make the most of this ski resort.
Down the road from the epic ski resort is a trail called The Reed Brook Trail and it leads to an epic waterfall that is impressive no matter what the season.
