My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Time to take the road less traveled and head way up to the northern part of the state. It might seem like not much is happening above Bangor, but there is a whole countryside to explore. There is a scenic route that will take you into a couple of small towns near the top of the state and there you can find lovely little shops. Country stores in Maine aren’t quite the same without being way up in the country where there are just as many moose as there are people.
Things are a lot different in northern Maine, in fact, people have even referred to it as “other Maine”.
J&J Cabins & Mini Barns, Houlton Rd, Easton, ME 04740, USA
We love our northern countryside and along the rolling hills and potato fields as far as the eye can see, you will find some of the nicest people around. Among the friendly residents, you can find a great Amish community. Not every store along the way will be Amish but one thing they all have in common is a sense of hard work and that country style we all love. Like the welcomed craftsmanship of J & J Mini Barns in Easton, with amazing work put into outdoor structures.
Next up, Center Bulk Foods will have a variety of items for sale with an emphasis on bulk foods, hence the name.

For something a little bit sweeter, try visiting The Maple Moose.

With authentic northern Maine maple syrup, this is a must-stop while traveling up in the Presque Isle area. Keep an eye on The Maple Moose website and catch one of their events throughout the year. Get a behind-the-scenes look and join in on some delicious taste testing.
After that, head south on Route 1 and take in the beautiful countryside farming scenery. The next stop will be about an hour away, but the drive will fly by in no time at all because the route is so pretty.
This little Amish store has amazing-tasting hot donuts and a variety of goods to peruse. Grab some candy, hot food, or a beautifully handcrafted gift. Be sure to follow The Pioneer Place USA on Facebook for the latest updates.
Just down the road, you will find another store called Northeastern Rustic.
