Of all the things to do in Maine, getting outside and enjoying some fresh air must surely be one of the best. Maybe it’s the fact that breezes here feel so clean. Or, maybe it’s the surroundings and beautiful views. More likely it’s the combination of everything this state has to offer. And if you’re like us and keep a running list of outdoor spots to explore, you’ll definitely want to add this spot to that list!
The Scarborough portion of the Eastern Trail is located next to the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center. You can learn all about it through their website. You can learn more about the trail on alltrails.com. The Maine Audubon wildlife sanctuaries are open every day from dawn to dusk. Note that the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center offers marsh access and kayak rentals during the summer, but is closed during the winter.
In terms of accessibility, the trail is primarily gravel and the trail is about five feet wide, at least. The 3% grade is considered gentle.
