When it comes to views, Maine certainly isn’t lacking. From ocean views to mountain vistas, taking some time to stare out at the natural landscape will soothe your soul. But, all that soul soothing can make a Mainer hungry! Lucky for us, the only thing as good as the Maine views, are the Maine eats! And, when we can combine the two – it’s a recipe for success! If you haven’t been to the restaurant at the Blair Hill Inn in Greenville, you’re missing out! The food is incredible, but it’s the unforgettable setting that really impresses us.
The Blair Hill Inn, located in beautiful Greenville, was once a gentleman's estate and a breeding farm. It was built as a mansion in 1891 and has been restored to become a boutique hotel with truly unique decor.
Today, the bed and breakfast features ten rooms, set on 21 beautiful acres.
Sitting on the side of a sweeping hill, the house overlooks Moosehead Lake, one of the best and most beautiful waterways in Maine. While the inn is a lovely place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busier life, the restaurant is a great place to spend a few hours away.
Each meal served has its beginnings in the form of Spring planting. Gardens are planted in the inn's greenhouse and gardens, where the chef gets daily fresh ingredients. Unlike other restaurants that set their menu and then find the ingredients, dining at Blair Hill Inn means enjoying a meal that's been specifically created for the day's garden offering.
The restaurant is casual, but professional and the service is top-notch. And, while lakeside living typically means casual, the inn refers to the appropriate dining attire as "dining out fancy," Maine style.
You can expect to indulge in a six-course, prix fix dinner for about $70.
Dinner is served to both guests and the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tuesday nights feature a private dinner only available to guests of the inn.
The cocktail lounge is a lovely place to ease into the evening. It's open every night for guests and Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays for the public.
The setting of this beautiful restaurant in Greenville can be enjoyed throughout the grounds - not just at the restaurant. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the porch and taking in the views of the lake.
Or, even better - try to spot a moose in the very-accurately-named Moosehead Lake!
From views over the lake and towards Mt. Kineo to possible moose sightings, you'll be in awe of this incredible setting.
