While there’s tons of great dining in Maine’s larger cities, sometimes it’s well worth it to go farther afield. This little gem is located nearly two hours from Augusta, but you’ll be glad you ventured out once you get a taste of the delicious fare and a look at the scenery.
Rangeley Inn & Tavern is located northwest of Portland and Augusta, but is also far from the beaten path of Route 27. You'll find it at 2443 Main Street, in Rangeley.
The menu at Rangeley Inn & Tavern is seasonal, and everything is locally sourced from farmers who focus on sustainable growing. The beet salad is a tasty way to start your dinner. It comes with roasted beets and fried goat cheese.
If you prefer something lighter, try the lemon-panko haddock. Caught right off the Gulf of Maine, it's served with wild rice and sustainably-farmed seasonal vegetables.
