When you think of Maine, visions of lobsters and lighthouses come to mind, and moose – Maine has more moose per mile than any other state. However, when you feel like curling up with a good book and finding your perfect cup of tea, the Pine Tree State has you covered as well. The Owl & Turtle Bookshop in Camden and Green Tree Coffee & Tea, a quick spin down the coast in Lincolnville, will be just the ticket.
The Owl & Turtle Bookshop has been enthralling readers in Camden since 1970.
Events at the bookshop include book signings, performances by local musicians, and art displayed by local artists. You can sit outside with your canine companion, a good read, and a snack from the café.
The store features local authors and illustrators and contains a nice selection of seasonal books, books for children and young adults, and so much more.
On a sunny day, you can sit outside and enjoy your tea, or coffee, with a view. Green Tree is approximately a nine-minute trip in the car from the Owl & Turtle Bookshop.
Green Tree provides a cozy, serene space for enjoying your tea time, and on occasion, you may be greeted by one of the owners' rescue dogs, Frankie, or Daisy.
Green Tree donates to PAWS, an organization that finds homes for rescued dogs and cats. Frankie recommends the fine chocolates and freshly baked cookies to go with your tea.
Green Tree stocks over 50 varieties of loose tea, so it may take you a minute, or two, to decide which one you wish to sip today.
You could choose Maine Blueberry, Organic Blood Moon Chai, or one of the other many tempting teas. Local delivery is available.
