Throughout the country you’ll find lots of old train cars converted to be eateries, but the ones in Maine often come with some fun local history. This particular train has had three different homes in Portland! Check this place out if you’re hungry, love Maine and want something a bit more unique than the run-of-the-mill lunch spot.
The Worcester Lunch Car Company specialized in handcrafted diners with porcelain exteriors and hardwood interiors. Today, Miss Portland Diner might just be one of the best examples of their work.
This iconic diner is located in (you guessed it!) Portland! It exhibits some of the quintessential features of these types of dining cars, including stainless steel starburst panels, marble countertops and hardwood booths.
Since that time she's been updated and renovated to accommodate a more modern crowd. Specifically, a crowd that takes up more room. The diner has become so popular that an expansion was necessary. It now exists beyond just the dining car into another room. They have daily specials, which we love.
