Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the great outdoors in Maine you’ll find yourself with plenty of great options. Whether you like the forested landscape of inland parts of the state or the water views that come with coastal routes, there’s enough variety to try something new each weekend. Especially when new areas are being designated for public use all the time. We love this newer trail for it’s water views and the fact that it feels a bit remote without being difficult to access.
The Clark Island Preserve trail is open year-round and it’s great for hiking, walking, and seeing wildlife. You can learn more about it by checking out alltrails.com. And if you have a furry friend, bring them along! Dogs are allowed as long as they’re kept on a leash.
