Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

These days there’s nothing we crave more than some fresh Maine air. Whether the air is warm or chilly, getting outside has always been a great way to clear the mind and start fresh. Especially this year! We love local hikes, but we’re not always looking to break a sweat which is why we appreciate the flat, scenic trails that can be found throughout the state. This simple-to-follow route is one of our favorites.
Scarborough Beach State Park is beautiful to visit year-round. It’s typically open from dawn to dusk. In the summer you’ll find the parking lots quite busy, so arrive early unless you’re okay with walking across the street to access the beach from the off-site lot. You can learn more about the park and how to enjoy it by visiting their website here. You can learn more about the trail and see a map by checking out alltrails.com.
