There are plenty of fun ways to spend an afternoon in Maine, but lately we’ve been on the hunt for new options. People all over the state are saying that this winter is likely to be very snowy and facing the prospect of a few snowy days it’s always nice to have a list of new activities to try. This place is high on our list!
Portland Pottery in (you guessed it!) Portland is one part studio, one part supply store and one part incredible cafe!
Next up are the smiling faces behind the counter. Everyone here is kind, but there's a good chance you won't even notice given how delicious the food looks!
Don't let the word "pottery" in the name fool you into thinking the cafe part is just an after though. On the contrary! The cafe here has an extensive menu taking locals from breakfast through lunch and every snack you might need in-between.
In addition to classes throughout the year, they also hold special events including a date night which includes a clay workshop and a 4-course candlelight dinner.
There's always something going on here, so it's worth stopping in just to ask them a few questions. And if clay isn't your thing, just visit for the menu!
If you're a potter in need of supplies, they also offer a wide variety of clays and tools. In fact, they're one of the Northeast’s largest clay suppliers.
Portland Pottery Cafe is open Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can learn more about classes and activities on their website, or check them out on Facebook.
