DiMillo's: The Largest Restaurant In Maine Has An Unforgettable Menu

While the last few years have taught us a ton about the value of cooking at home, there’s no denying that going out for a great meal is always high on our list. But with more people getting out and about and visiting Maine, it can be tough to find a table. Except at this beloved local spot! The largest restaurant in Maine is located in Portland and in addition to being huge, it’s got one of our favorite menus!

You can consider this article our love letter to one of the best restaurants in Maine, DiMillo's On The Water in Portland!

Sitting in the Old Port, this restaurant isn't just one of the largest in the state it's also believed to be one of the largest floating restaurants in America.

The boat, which once was used to ferry boats from Delaware from New Jersey, was purchased by local Tony DiMillo and moved to Maine. It's been a restaurant for nearly 40 years, since 1982.

While we recently counted five different dining areas, we have a feeling there are far more than that when you consider the outdoor areas and the bar. There's seating for more than 600 people in total here.

In addition to tons of space, we love just how beautiful it is. At night it's utterly gorgeous.

Beginning with the lit-up entryway that leads you into the dining space.

And as big as the dining rooms are, the menu feels even larger. There's plenty of seafood, of course, including lobster rolls which are a Maine staple.

There are also tons of fun takes on seafood, including things like this Tagliatelle Vongole, which features littleneck clams, mussels, and a garlic, fennel, and white wine broth with chopped clams and roasted red peppers.

Prefer to enjoy life as a landlubber? There's plenty of that too.

And no matter what you order, be sure to save room for dessert. There are lots of options and each one is better than the one before it.
