Getting outside in Maine is one of our favorite ways to appreciate being here. Whether it’s simply going for a walk in the neighborhood, exploring the shops in nearby cities and towns or actually heading out into the woods, a dose of fresh air will always make you feel better. This easy trail is located near the New Hampshire border and offers a nice way to enjoy the trees.
The Kezar River Trail is a part of the 114-acre Kezar River Preserve, which is near Lovell.
But just in case you do get disoriented, the trail markers along the way have all been created by local students. This adds a lovely community vibe to this area. Just another thing we love about Maine!
This is one of five similar ravines that was formed by “headwall erosion." Because this is fairly uncommon on the east coast, it'll be interesting to see along the way!
The views are beautiful, the area is accessible and we think this area offers a great way to ease into hiking. It's great for beginners, wonderful for kids and fun all-around.
One thing to note is that the ground near the water and ravines can be very challenging. Because of its soft texture, the possibility of getting stuck exists. Always be cautious in any outdoor situation.
Kezar River Preserve is accessible year-round but, of course, you’ll want to be more cautious in the winter as conditions can get slippery. You can learn more about the trail and how to find it here.
