Despite officially being referred to as the Pine Tree State, most people affectionately refer to Maine as Vacationland. That’s because each and every nook and cranny is utterly beautiful. Visiting, even if you live here, feels like a vacation. If you’re making a trip to the state for an actual vacation (or live here and want a staycation!), why not stay in one of the best castles in the US?
The Norumbega Inn located in Camden dates back to 1886. It was built by Weld-native, Joseph Stearns who drew on inspiration from the castles he saw during his extensive travels through Europe.
The castle hotel features 11 rooms, two of which are suites. The areas downstairs are inviting and cozy, perfect for enjoying a good book or getting ready for a day exploring the midcoast.
As a trained chef, Phil makes sure each and every meal at The Norumbega Inn is a delight. Both the breakfast and dinner menus offer a wide variety of choices, including meals made with locally sourced ingredients.
And when it's time to lay your head down, retreat to your room for a luxurious night's sleep. Pictured here is the Warwick room which offers views of Penobscot Bay as well as a fireplace and shared balcony.
Both suites are extra-special. Choose from the Penthouse Suite, pictured here, for the most incredible panoramic views of the bay and a private balcony.
The Library Suite is a two-room beauty that once served as the castle's original library. The Mahogany wood and large king bed make this suite extra-unique.
Each and every room at The Norumbega Inn is beautiful and a stay here offers luxury and a true feel of Maine.
The Norumbega Inn is open year-round and it’s beautiful any season. You can learn more about it by visiting their website or following them on Facebook. The 11 rooms, including two suites, book well in advance so you’ll want to make your plans early enough to have your pick. They can be reached on 207-236-4646.
