We love sticking to a budget, which means we’re always looking for fun activities in Maine that offer excitement without breaking the bank. With so many fun things to do, it’s not always easy. In fact, we always have a little bit of rainy-day fund for when we want to splurge on an attraction that’s totally worth it. But there’s plenty to enjoy before going that route and these trails in Gray are a great example. If you like the outdoors, you’ll love exploring this area without paying a dime!
Libby Hill Forest Trails in Gray offers more than eight miles of trails to be explored by people of all ages and with many interests.
Thankfully the area now offers multiple trails for uses that include things like walking, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
The area spans forests, wetlands, and a few beaver habitats as well. All of this makes for one of the most fun ways to explore the great outdoors of Maine in a single day and just by visiting one place.
The eight different trails here have all been created with specific activities in mind. The wider trails are great for cross-country skiing in the winter and running or walking in other months.
There are five narrow trails that are meant for those who want to meander through the deeper woods. These are great for snowshoeing in the winter and mountain biking or hiking in the summer.
While the trail system is free to access they do rely on the financial and volunteer time donations to keep things operating smoothly. If you'd like to get involved or donate you can click here to learn how.
The Libby Hill Forest is open all day every day, but always be a bit more careful during the winter when conditions can become icy. Pets are welcome to come along, but be sure to keep them on a leash. There are lots of fun ways to enjoy these trails and you can learn more by checking out the website or following them on Facebook.
