Now that we’re officially experiencing autumn we’ve been focused on finding some of the best ways to enjoy the season. Of course we’ve got some incredible hikes that can be done throughout the state, but as the weather gets chillier we’re looking for ways to relax and take it all in. One of the best is this unique (and new!) chair lift ride at one of Maine’s most favorite ski resorts.
For people in New England, Sunday River in Newry evokes images of snow, skiing and hot chocolate.
And right now the region is just entering peak color, making this an ideal time to visit. But, don't simply hop in the car and look out the windows. This year, up your leaf peepin' game by enjoying one of Sunday River's scenic lift rides!
Through Indigenous Peoples' Day weekend in October visitors can take a ride up the North Peak on either an open chair or in an enclosed gondola cabin to take in the views of the Sunday River Valley and Mahoosuc Mountains.
The Sunday River scenic lift rides can be taken Saturdays and Sundays from September 26th through October 11th, which is Columbus Day Weekend. That weekend you can also enjoy the ride on Friday. You can learn more about the ride and book your tickets here. Tickets start at $15.
