The summer is starting to feel like a distant memory. While the weather is still beautiful, we see the colors changing little by little. A red leaf here, a slightly less green leaf there. While it gives us a tinge of sadness, there’s truly no better place to be than Maine when the the leaves start to change color. And there’s no better way to experience them than a beautiful boat cruise on a lake.
The fall foliage in Maine is beautiful from any vantage point, but we're going to go out on a limb and say that any view (of just about anything!) from a boat is pretty special. Fall foliage is at the top of that list.
Take the near-daily Oyster Farm and Fall River tour for a voyage to see seven of the Damariscotta oyster farms that is the home of some of the best shellfish in the state.
You'll want to make sure you have a camera with you. The views are spectacular, but coupled with the oysters this might be the most quintessential Maine autumn trip ever.
Trips take place once a day and last two hours. Tickets are $31 for adults and $16 for children. Well worth a day on the river, shucking oysters and enjoying the Maine autumn views.
Damariscotta River Cruises operates fall foliage boat rides from early September to mid-October. You can reach them at (207) 315-5544, or make a reservation online. Fore more information check out their website or visit them on Facebook.
Address: 47 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543
