If you’re anything like us, the last few months have frazzled your nerves and kept you guessing. There are a few ways to get yourself back to baseline, but one of our go-to methods is by getting outside. Whether it’s a few minutes outside in the morning or an all-day trip to the woods, nice Maine air is a great way to clear your head. If you’re looking for a way to do it that includes some beautiful views, we recommend this hike!
Located on the north end of Megunticook Lake in Lincolnville you'll find Fernald's Neck Preserve which protects almost 3 miles of shoreline. The preserve offers tons of ways to get close to nature, but we love hiking through to see the beautiful lake.
Of all the trails, we particularly love the ones that lead to views of the water. Check out the map at the trailhead before setting off, but the blue trail is high on our list.
Make your way to one of the higher elevations and you'll see the lake from above. But stay closer to the bottom and you'll even be able to swim when it's warm enough.
The entire network of trails here are worth exploring. Doing them all would be a fun day-trip. Or you can split them up for a good excuse to come back to Fernald's Neck Preserve multiple times.
Fernald’s Neck Preserve offers a variety of ways to enjoy the great outdoors. You can learn more about it by visiting Maine Trail Finder. Always be careful to check the weather before heading out for any hike and make sure someone knows where you’ll be.
