The 13-mile journey departs from the Washington Junction rail yard outside of Ellsworth. This is where visitors can meet the conductors, learn about the restored railroad and purchase souvenirs.

The Downeast Scenic Railroad trip operates on Saturdays and Sundays in the season which is typically from some time in May through mid-October. Tickets are $17 for adults 13 and older, $15 for seniors and active military, and $9 for kids aged 3 to 12. Children two and under are free.
