Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

If we had a nickel for every time we drove through a small Maine town on our way to another destination and thought, “I should come back and spend some time here!” we’d have enough money to buy our own island in Casco Bay. The bad news is that we haven’t been setting aside nickles. But, the good news is that there’s one town that we DO always stop in. You’ve probably heard of it, since it’s one of our most special towns and is named after a country. And, if you’re ever driven out to Western Maine, there’s a chance you’ve spent some time there. We’re talking about Norway, Maine.
Click here for Google Map directions that will take you from your location straight to Norway!
Norway is located along Route 26 and Route 118, near Lake Pennesseewassee.
If you can time your visit for July 8th, 2017 you can take part in the Norway Arts Festival to enjoy art, local makers, music, dancing, food and the Norway Triathlon.
Our favorite thing about Norway is that you can stay for a week and enjoy the outdoors, or simply drive down Main Street and stop through some of these great places...
1. Norway Brewing Company offers up craft beer and homemade food that's so good (get the fried chicken sandwich!) you'll stop again on your way out of town!
Cafe Nomad is located at 450 Main Street / (207) 739-2249
3. Most people don't expect to have their dietary needs accommodated outside of major cities, but Norway's got you covered at Taste of Eden Vegan Cafe!
Come stock up on yarn and a few bottles of wine to drink while you knit yourself a hat for the winter. They're located at 402 Main Street / (207) 739-2664
You've seen these all over the state, but we bet you didn't know this fun fact...
... Norway Savings Bank first opened in 1872. At that point the only employee was a cashier who was also the janitor and bookkeeper. The flagship location is located in... you guessed it! Right on Main Street in Norway.
No matter what you decide to do in Norway, we recommend a visit!
