Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

Much of Maine is absolutely beautiful and getting outside is fairly easy no matter where you might be. We love the many hiking trails, state parks, and mountains but it’s easy to overlook the spots that exist merely for enjoyment. The state’s gardens and parks are a fantastic place to get some fresh air without the added pressure of lacing up those hiking boots. If you’re looking for a new spot to see consider the nature center we’re featuring today!
Merryspring Nature Center in Camden is a beautiful day trip destination offering something for every nature lover, whether they're avid outdoor-goers or people who want to feel the midcoast breeze hit their face.
She loved the outdoors and wanted others to have a place to visit that would allow them the chance to learn and be immersed in the great outdoors of Maine. Ross purchased the 66-acre piece of land herself and went on to create Merryspring, Inc. This nonprofit, member-supported corporation has worked to operate the nature center and make sure it's thriving.
Throughout the year there are events and activities meant to help teach visitors about local nature. There are guided nature walks, bird seminars and other fun events.
This is also a great place to foster a love of the outdoors in children. We love the annual bug safari which invites families to find insects and spiders in the gardens. The center supplies a few nets, cages and field guides to make sure kids have a great time.
Merryspring Nature Center is open every day from sunrise to sunset. You can learn all about the many activities they host as well as the things you can do during your visit by checking out their website. Also, be sure to follow them on Facebook to keep track of news! You can reach them on 207-236-2239.
