Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

One of the best things about Maine is the many small shops and restaurants that exist in every single town. Full of heart and loved by the community that visits them each day, these places all have something special about them. From the ambiance to the staff to the delicious food created each day, this particular spot in the midcoast is extra-special.
Referred to simply as "the buns," these little delicacies started as just a menu offering, but it was soon clear that the cinnamon buns and sticky buns were the stars of the show around here!
The cinnamon buns are made with soft sweet dough that have delicious swirls of cinnamon as well as a wonderful white icing. The sticky buns are made with layers of sweet dough topped with caramel and covered with whole pecans.
The popularity of these treats means it's common to see a line for ordering. And, there's even a demand for shipping. We love them for special occasions and holidays.
The buns here could be their own meal, but if you're the type that prefers a more traditional meal they've got plenty to offer on their menu. Including this breakfast quesadilla.
But then, of course, you're going to want to get right back to the buns! They do have the "best buns" after all!
The Cupboard Cafe is open seasonally each spring and summer. For up-to-date information on when they’ll be open and their hours, check out their website. You can also follow them on Facebook. They can be reached on 207-677-3911.
