Mainers spend a whole lot of long winter months waiting for the first signs of summer. That’s usually a string of warm days, birds chirping, spring peepers singing and leaves beginning to bud on the trees. All of these things remind us that winter is far behind, but one of the best indications of summer is when the roadside seafood spots begin to open! And when they do, this one should be high on your list to visit.
Places like Craig's Clam Shop in Patten might seem plentiful in Maine, but trust us when we say that this spot just can't be compared to others!
The unassuming spot just off of Route 11 is special for a lot of reasons, but the kindness of the staff is certainly high on the list. Second might be just how casual they are here.
Order from the window using the menu outside, wait for your meal and then dig into it right away sitting on one of their picnic tables, Adirondack chairs or, on a busy day, in your car.
And their lobster rolls are incredible. They're made with pure lobster and no fillers. Plus, the mayo and butter are included to-order so you can walk away with exactly what you want.
For a tiny spot at the side of the road, their menu is mammoth! If you can't find something you're craving, there's a good chance you're just not that hungry.
