It’s easy to find great restaurants in Maine, but where do you go when you want a truly exceptional dining experience? There’s an incredible farmhouse restaurant in the charming town of Neddick, and it combines a stunning atmosphere with some of the best food and service you’ll ever experience. Let’s take a look at Clay Hill Farm:
The town of York, Maine is one of the state's most charming. Popular with tourists and visitors alike, it's well-known for its beautiful, historic homes and buildings and touristy souvenir shops. Cape Neddick is a gorgeous, scenic spot in York, and it's also the home of Clay Hill Farm.
The farm was built in 1780, and it's been a restaurant since the 1970s. Check out the pretty red barn - an original structure from the late 1700s. The white clapboard farmhouse was built in the 18th century as well. While space has been added onto the farmhouse, it's still as charming as ever.
In the winter months, this farm is just magical. The snow-covered landscape has a rural beauty all of its own, and this time of year is a perfect opportunity to visit.
Clay Hill Farm was the first restaurant in America to be designated as a wildlife habitat and bird sanctuary! Take a stroll on the nature trails around the pond, and watch for the 100 or so birdhouses that serve as nesting spots for the many birds who call this place home.
And let's talk about your meal! First of all, the service here is unbeatable. These folks take care of you as if you're family, and every little detail is perfect, from the crisp, white tablecloths to the pretty plate garnishes.
The menu is always changing at Clay Hill Farm, according to what can be sourced locally in season. While we can't promise any entree in particular will be available, one thing is certain - you'll enjoy an exquisite meal.
One glimpse of the desserts here, and we're sure we can convince you to save a little room. All of the homemade desserts are divine, but we're particularly partial to the Chocolate Oblivion - a flourless chocolate cake adorned with raspberry coulis and fresh whipped cream.
Reservations at Clay Hill Farm are strongly suggested. Call (207) 361-2272 to book your table.
