There’s nothing we love more than getting outside to enjoy the nature of Maine! That’s why warmer temperatures have us waking up with a spring in our step. Warmer, longer days mean lots of time to spend outdoors. We’re even luckier since we’re in Maine with access to trails like this one! Relatively short and flat, this route will lead you to a lovely waterfall. And it’s great for a group with little legs.
There are a few beautiful trails in the Cathance River Nature Preserve in Topsham, but our favorite includes access to a beautiful waterfall area.
The Cathance River Trail is 4.3-miles and great for little legs, folks with less hiking experience, and others who prefer to enjoy a flat route over those with serious elevation.
Another reason that this hike is great for kids is the rapids found along the river. Rather than having to wait for a waterfall payoff, you'll see class IV rapids all along the way.
