Editor’s Note: There is no future Night Sky Festival scheduled. However, you can check out other exciting events in Maine on our website.
Maine has so many different sides that it’s easy to find something you love, no matter what your passions. Love the water? There’s seemingly endless coast to explore! Prefer the lakes and mountains? There’s an entire region for that! The best thing about all of these adventures is always having the night sky just above. The festival we’re featuring today is for those who love the stars and you won’t want to miss it!
New England's only National Park is right here in Maine and we're lucky enough to call it outs. Acadia National Park is a major state destination for things like hiking, camping and exploring. But at the end of September there's a very unique reason to visit.
There's such a variety of events that everyone from kids to those who have been learning about the night sky all their lives will find something to love.
Many of the events include actual outdoor time looking skyward, but there are also plenty of speakers that will allow those hungry for education to get exactly what they want.
What makes Acadia the perfect location for such an event is just how pristine the skies are here. With a lack of light pollution and a natural environment, constellations and even the Milky Way are on full display.
From night sky photography workshops to daytime educational events, this is one must-visit festival for those who are curious about what happens above our heads.
If you've attended this event in the past, please note that this year will see some changes to schedule and lineup due to Covid-19. Be sure to check the website for an accurate list of what you can participate in.
The Acadia Night Sky Festival in 2021 takes place from September 29th to October 3rd, 2021. There are a variety of events taking place throughout the festival. Some are free while others come with an admission cost. You can learn more about the event and see what’s slated to take place each day by visiting their website. You can also follow the festival on Facebook.
