One of our favorite things about Maine is the fact that behind every bend in the trail lies another hidden gem. From secret hikes to small lobster shacks, you never know when you might run into something that will take your day in a totally new direction. During the summer, we love finding Maine swimming holes! This is one of our favorites!

Frenchman's Hole, located in Bethel, is not only beautiful but lots of fun!

The slightly secluded spot is near Sunday River where the river runs off the mountain making a lovely spot for swimming.

But, more than just a swimming hole, Frenchman's has an awesome waterfall too.

After your plunge, look towards the right of the falls where there should be a rope to help you make your way back to the top.

Frenchman's Hole is hidden, yet easy enough to find:

Head to North Bethel, where you'll head northwest on Sunday River Road. Soon you'll pass the covered bridge eventually arriving at two logging bridges. Make your way across the bridges then turn right. Keep going until you see the parking area on the right.
