One great part of living in a small town is that when it comes time to celebrate, the whole community gets involved. Churches, restaurants, and schools alike all gather together to make the most of the seasonal festivities. That is exactly what you will find if you spend your Halloween in Augusta, Maine. When it comes to massive Halloween celebrations, the state capitol has one of the best events of the year.
Trick or treat on Water Street is a staple event that brings out thousands of families each year. Vendors and business owners gather together to pass out candy and play fun games. This year the theme is classic Halloween movies so bring your costume and join in on the spooky fun.

Years of neglect have left this once prominent building in disrepair. However, efforts have been made to restore this once-beautiful structure. They are hosting a Halloween event to help raise money for this restoration. So join them for a movie night showing the 1947 classic, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

Hope Baptist Church has been hosting a Trunk or Treat off the Streets for the past 4 years and they are back again this year. This event takes visitors into the building which is elaborately decorated with various themes. It is a fun event that has brought families in each year and is sure to be another great time this Halloween.

One of the best places to go door to door is actually two towns over in the town of Farmingdale. Hayford Heights has been known as a local gold mine of precious candy. Lots of houses close by and a safe neighborhood makes this one of the best places near the capitol to go trick or treating.
If you head down the road just a little further, you will arrive in Gardiner for Johnson Hall’s Halloween Dance and Costume Party. Make your way into the historic barn dressed as a monster and bash the night away. This event is sure to put the “boogie” in the boogie man.
