The Best Chicken Sandwich In America is Right Here In Maine
Maine has the best lobster rolls on the planet. Done deal. Questions answered. Closed case. But, it’s not the only food we do best. According to industry monitor, “Restaurant Hospitality,” the best chicken sandwich in America can be found right here in Maine – at Liquid Riot Bottling Company in Portland.

Liquid Riot is located in The Old Port area of Portland, right on the water. While its waterfront location is lovely, it was chosen not just for its views. This restaurant/distillery/brewery blend is located on the same spot as the Portland Rum Riot. Perhaps it's the energy of the land that makes it so special - or, maybe it's the fact that they regularly surpass what one might expect at a bar. We hate to even call it a "bar," though, considering they do so much more.
And that's where this epic sandwich comes in.
The Chicken Skin Sliders might be the thing that slider dreams are made of.

These one-of-a-kind creations feature crispy fried chicken skin, covered in Sour Trouble orange marmalade. Layered under a house-made pretzel bun, there's not much that could make this slider any better. Unless you consider the price tag. The best chicken sandwich in America will set you back just about $9.
Restaurant Hospitality raved about the inventive pairing of the robust chicken skins, with the not-too-sweet orange marmalade. Together, they take what could be a jarring taste to a place that's the perfect combination of crispy, salty and sweet.

And that pretzel bun certainly puts the dish even high up on our list.
If you're looking for something beyond the chicken skin sliders, there's a wide variety of menu items from which to choose. They're well-known for their venison meatloaf sliders. They come with Gruyere, Maine blueberry ketchup, and whiskey onions. And, they're also served on an awesome pretzel roll.

If you're in Maine for the seafood, there's something for you as well. Try the lobster sliders, which come with smoked tomato mayo, pickled radish and pork rinds. They're served on the traditional potato roll.

Another option? Try the Bacon and Eggs served on a board. It comes with deviled eggs, pickled green strawberries and 3 types of bacon - brown sugar bacon with Old Port Bourbon glaze; pastrami rubbed with a Sour Trouble Ale mustard BBQ; and jerk rubbed with Irish Goodbye Stout.

And then, of course, there's the House Burger. No real explanation necessary - the picture says it all.

Grab yourself some Belgian frites on the side, along with a side of curry ketchup and aioli.
And, of course, be sure to enjoy it all outside overlooking the water.
