Each day in Vacationland is another opportunity for some of the best natural surroundings in New England. But you don’t need to strap on your hiking boots to experience what this incredible state has to offer. This boardwalk trail in Maine – Orono, to be exact – will have you immersed in nature without the uphill slog.
The Orono Bog Boardwalk trail is a 1-mile boardwalk loop beginning at the Bangor City Forest.
With its tall trees and sometimes misty feel, there are portions that will make you feel as though you've been transported to an entirely different region of the US.
Throughout the walk, you'll find a number of signs with illustrations of local bog plants and animals, as well as detailed explanations that bring life to your experience.
You can start this fun day by heading to the Boardwalk on Tripp Drive in Bangor. You can call them on 207-866-2578. For exact driving directions, click here. And, learn more about the mission and events on their website here.
There’s another beautiful boardwalk trail can be found at Saco Heath Preserve. Learn more about it here.
