Michelle's life is a colorful map of exploration and adventure. From the iconic streets of New York to the sunny shores of Florida, the jagged coast of Maine to the rugged terrain of Montana, she's been fortunate to call some of America's most beautiful states home. Beyond the U.S., Michelle's wanderlust has taken her on a motorcycle journey through India, led her to teach English in Hanoi, and saw her studying Spanish in Guatemala. Michelle graduated with a communications degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and in addition to a career in advertising has worked with OnlyInYourState since 2016, where her love for travel and storytelling converges. Alongside writing and exploring, Michelle finds joy in photography, staying active, and time with her family.

Maine’s history is full of highs and lows. From forts to museums to trails, the history here involves things dating as far back as 1000 BCE. While we love this history and tend to write about it quite a bit here at Only in Maine, we have to say that today we’re feeling seriously snacky. That means we’re particularly proud of our food history which includes celebrating one Maine bakery that’s been around for a very, very long time!
Botto’s Bakery is located at 550 Washington Ave., Portland, Maine. They’re open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon. They’re closed on Sunday. Check out their website for more information and pay close attention to their Facebook page for more 2019 70th anniversary roll-outs! You can give them a call on 207-773-9647.
