Perched on a tiny island, the Burnt Island lighthouse is a charming piece of history that's well worth a visit. It's located mid-coast, near Southport. While lights like Portland Head Light and Nubble might overshadow it, we love the out-of-the-way nature of it. It's only accessible via boat, which makes the entire trip feel special. The friars behind this wonderful little brewhouse once owned the local bakery. But, turns out the locals want what they want and that's microbrews with European treats on the side. Address: 84 Main Street, Bucksport, ME 04416.

The 500-foot bridge spans a piece of the Androscoggin River leading to private Hastings Island. Here you can enjoy the 1-mile walking trail that offers birdwatching, wildlife watching and views of Maine's natural land. The bridge is a complimentary adventure for their customers, so stop in for a river trip adventure, rock hounding in our Sluice, or to shop in their store. About 45 minutes from Portland, and you'll find one of the most lovely flea markets in the region.
