The weather has slowly become cooler, but that doesn’t mean all trips outdoors need to be cancelled for the season. We’re still in the midst of some pretty great weather in many parts of the state, which means we’re still taking advantage of the ability to spend some time outside! If you’re not up for outdoor activities that require you to break a sweat, try one of our favorite Maine pastimes – enjoying the food! These spots offer great outdoor dining, but get there fast. As we all know, the weather can change any day now!
Boone's is located in the heart of Portland's Old Port and it has one of the best outdoor seating areas in the city! Also important to note is that the oysters are great, but they're good for more than just that. Check out the full menu and think about trying the Fried Oyster Po' Boy. Visit them at: 86 Commercial Street on Custom House Wharf, Portland / (207) 774-5725
This island spot is open year round, but the deck might not be open much longer! Get there while you can by taking the Casco Bay Lines from Portland. Walk towards the main road and make a left - a few feet down and you're there! Then, order yourself a drink and a snack while watching the boats. Visit them at: 78 Island Avenue, Peaks Island / (207) 766-2800
3. Schooner Landing Restaurant and Marina, Damariscotta
Schooner Lander in Damariscotta isn't just for seafood lovers. They've got a great pub menu and an even better view! Visit them at: 40 Main Street, Damariscotta / (207) 563-7447
With fresh ingredients and a cozy vibe, The Treehouse is one of our favorite haunts in Portland. But, what we love the most its namesake feature - the treehouse-vibes on the back deck! Check it out for a romantic dinner. Visit them at: 484 Stevens Avenue, Portland / (207) 874-0706.
Good for meals at any time of day, we love their big menu and hearty portions. But, whenever you sit down to eat you'll love the view overlooking the river! And best of all, this might be the most affordable place in town. Visit them at: 35 Main Street, Camden / (207) 236-4949
Easy Day is a popular spot for local sports teams to celebrate a win. And, it's easy to see why. Evenings outside on the patio include fires to help up the ambiance and the (sometimes unreliable) Maine weather. Visit them at: 725 Broadway, South Portland / (207) 200-2226
Another great fall dining option in Maine is this spot, nestled in the woods next to Moosehead Lake!
