All of the products at Tree Spirits are made from locally produced apples, pears and maple syrup. The company began in 1997 when Karen Olsen told Bruce "we can't afford to keep buying wine every night." Bruce soon began experimenting with maple sap and the rest is history! Sweetgrass Winery allows visitors to taste a variety of wines and spirits. Spend your time learning about wine production from award-winning winemaker and owner on this beautiful farm, which works to preserve Union's rich farming tradition. In addition to the winery and distillery, visitors can enjoy trails, have a picnic, and enjoy views of the Medomak river valley. The best part? They donate 10% of profits to organizations supporting families, children, and rural life.

In addition to the wines, we love the story behind Cellardoor. A hobo came to the area in the early 20th century hoping to find work as well as a safe place to live. He carved the symbol that adorns their farmhouse door. The mark signaled to other travelers that the 200-year old farm was a safe, welcoming place. Breakwater Vineyards is a farm winery complete with a tasting room in Owls Head. They have more than 2,500 grapevines across a 32-acre farm. We love that they are focused on being environmentally conscious. Breakwater is a member of the Maine Wine Trail which allows visitors to visit more than 20 different wineries across Maine. Catherine Hill is a 500 case per year, hand-powered winery, founded in July 2011. Every single step of the winemaking process from crushing grapes to bottling the product takes place within the on-premise winery. Visitors can enjoy everything from Red, White, Rosé, Blueberry, Blackberry and Cranberry wines, all available for tasting a the winery.
