Maine is full of things that are easy to be thankful for. We have access to the best nature, the best food and the best people. But, it’s easy to get caught up in our daily lives and forget all the good we have here in Maine. But, what if we were able to take just one day and remember everything we love about our state? Just one day to forget work, obligations and any stress we have and soak up everything Maine has to offer. It might be challenging to fit all of this into one day (okay, it might actually require being able to teleport yourself) but, if you’re feeling ambitious, here are 21 ways to have the most Maine day ever.
As long as it's locally owned, any will do. Our personal favorite right now is Bard in Portland. They just started offering up growlers of cold brew and they feature pastries and goodies from lots of local places. Give them a visit at 185 Middle Street in Portland / 207-899-4788.

3. Now, get yourself home and cook up some delicious ployes.
Grab a snack, rent a golf cart and drive yourself around the perimeter of the island. You'll be treated to views of Casco Bay, along with some lovely homes along the coast.
7. Feel centered and guided by visiting a Maine lighthouse.
Of course, all of them are lovely, but our personal favorite is Bass Harbor Light in Acadia. Again, this is where being able to beam yourself there would be helpful.
Nothing crazy. Just a place to walk around and enjoy the Maine landscape. Any network of trails will do, but we think Wolfe Neck State Park in Freeport is a good option for something leisurely.

9. Bonus points if you're wearing your bean boots.
Take a photo in front of the boot, then pretend you didn't. If you're from Maine and you're shopping in Freeport, it's because you have things to get done.
Dunn Falls in Oxford County is a good option. Dunn Falls features two main sections - an upper falls and a lower falls. Many people feel the lower is the most impressive, but both are worth the fairly strenuous hike it takes to reach them. Plan for about 3 hours total if you like stopping along the way. This is one where you can enjoy the water, so add some more time for splashing around.
Settle in and pretend you don't have to leave. Except you do, because this is just a pretend day and tomorrow you're going to have to go back to work. Sorry, guys.

19. Head north to Lubec for a taste of another Maine.
