If you’ve lived your life in Maine, there’s a good chance you’ve picked up some pretty unique habits over the years. Whether it’s the way you speak, the things you do, or how you approach life, chances are these habits run deep! Think a move to a new state will erase them? Nope! The things you learn to do as a wee-Mainer stay with you. And, if you’re like us, you couldn’t be happier about it! We honestly just have to laugh at these funny things about Maine, because, at the end of the day, they are very true. Here are those undeniable habits – the ones you’ll never unlearn. Which ones sound familiar to you?
Mainers know that there's nothing more wonderful than having a seat at the table. That means we're always prepared for just one more. You never know who might drop by! It could be a weird uncle or your best friend but chances are someone will show up right when it's time to eat.
It IS a Maine adventure, after all! You never know when you might need so discounted groceries, a board game, some yarn, or a sensible pair of slacks, You never do know what you might find at this great treasure hunt of a bargain store. It's a Maine classic.
Some of you might deny it, but even if you don't wear it you appreciate when others are decked out in plaid. Doesn't it remind you of winters and Dad taking you sledding? Don't judge we know you have one in your closet.

4. Ending up with a porch or front yard filled with seasonal "things."
In the summer it might be paddles or swim trunks, in the winter it might be snow boots or bibs. But, you can always tell the season by the state of a Mainer's front porch area! Perfect example, this picture was taken during the summer, see, easy.
It might be a walk, it might be a sunset, but nothing warms a Mainer's heart more than getting together with the friends who know us best. especially when it starts to get warm. People come out of their houses even if they have been hiding for the last six months.
It's not the most beautiful bridge in the world, but it's the one that takes you straight to Kittery which means you're back on safe ground! After all our state is the way life should be.
Mainers know that spring doesn't just mean warmer weather and less snow. It also begins construction season, which means this view is a daily occurrence. The best line of defense is simply finding a new route. Then again, you always have to remember the old Mainer saying "You can always get there from here."
And shouting it from the rooftops. Or, our lapels, as the case may be.
