2015 has come to a close and 2016 is here! We have a blank page before us. We can take up bowling, learn to knit or catch the big one off the coast of Maine. Or, we can simply promise ourselves to be grateful every day. We can promise ourselves to do our best to be happy and to appreciate the world around us. One great way to do that is to truly appreciate all Maine has to offer. Whatever is on your list for this new year, make sure you’re including a few of the following things that everyone must do in Maine this year.
This year's festivities take place August 3rd to 7th. On opening day, general admission tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for kids 6-12. After that, adults pay $8. Sunday is "Family Fun Day" and admission is free for everyone. Click here for more information.

Every fourth Sunday in March, sugarhouses across the state offer free maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours and music. The best part? The pancake breakfasts. Naturally!
Pier Fries have been an OOB staple since 1932. This summer, finally go see what the hype is about.
Watch 300 competitors from 32 different countries compete for the title. This event has been held here since 2011, so be sure to add it to your list this time around. Or, you may have to wait another 5 years.
