There’s nothing like hitting the open road with friends, family or even solo. We think that a road trip in Maine is even more special. With so much gorgeous scenery and plenty of places to stop along the way, we recommend taking a weekend and seeing what the state has to offer when traveling by car. While there are countless ways to enjoy journeying through the state, these are a few great things to do first. They trips and destinations are inexpensive and offer some of the best scenery you’ll find here!
We love visiting Cellardoor, but the history is even better! A hobo came to the area in the early 20th century hoping to find work as well as a safe place to live. He carved the symbol that adorns their farmhouse door. The mark signaled to other travelers that the 200-year old farm was a safe, welcoming place.

This is another example of how the journey can actually BE the destination. If you love what Maine offers in the way of nature, this is the trip for you. This is full of extremely cool things to see, but our favorite might be the view from the Height of Land near Rangeley!

Schoodic Point can be found at the southern end of Schoodic Peninsula in Winter Harbor. t just might be the best place to take in the classic pounding surf of the Maine coast, along with one of the best known features of Acadia National Park - Cadillac Mountain.
