If you're a lover of all things baked and sugary, Greenwood Orchards is a great option. In addition to powdery cider donuts they've also got tons of locally made products. They're a full bakery, so you can visit them all the way through the start of December. They're open now through October from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. From a thriving blueberry season to rockin' apple picking, this is the place you'll want to go when you need to make the most of a full autumn day in Maine. The 57 different varieties of apples have been grown by the same family for six generations and we imagine their recipes have only gotten better with time. We love Maine-ly Apples for their family friendly atmosphere. A visit should include a trip on their one-mile nature trail, followed by tasting all of their donuts and ice cream. The cider is also some of the best you'll taste! Visit them at: 372 Moosehead Tr., Dixmont / (207) 234-2043.

This is a wonderful little family-owned orchard, which means you can't get much more Maine than a visit here! They've got freshly pressed cider, along with anything else you can imagine that might be made with a good combination of apples, butter and sugar. McDougal Orchards planted their first Macintosh orchards in 1931. The trees have probably seen it all, but they're still churning up solid and tasty apples.
