9 Places To Hideout In Louisiana During A Zombie Apocalypse

Given all of the dire predictions out there about the future of our world, it’s reasonable to start making your plans for the zombie apocalypse. Luckily, Louisiana has quite a few locations that would make good hideouts should the danger reach our state. Here’s some of the places we scoped out. Let us know if you have any others!
According to a recent Cornell University study, certain areas will become prime zombie territory should an apocalypse break out. Austin, TX, lodged between Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, was named as one of the high-danger areas. Best thing for Louisiana residents to do? Avoid the state completely. Not that we weren’t doing that already…
While there isn’t much underground in Louisiana since our water table is so high, the numerous salt mines in the state are an exception. Great place to take cover when things get crazy---potential drawbacks: risk of sinkholes!

For the rugged zombie apocalypse survivors, an oil rig is probably the easiest place to defend of all of these options. Of course, you'll have to have lots of food reserves and talented fishermen to stay alive on the rig.

Live out the apocalypse in the comforts of a replica castle. Along with the grand entrance and grounds to help defend yourself, you’ll have plenty of room to help as many survivors as you can find.

On the outer reaches of the Louisiana marsh, Timbalier Island offers the protection of an island with the ease of access to the swampy coast for fishing or hunting. Flooding can be an issue however.
An abandoned fort offers plenty of places to protect yourself from the onslaught as well as plenty of water surrounding to deter any invaders. The only issue is that you may end up a little wet yourself. Might want to bring a boat to this hideout.

Technically the highest ground in Louisiana and miles from any surrounding town, Mount Driskill might be the best place to stay for good visibility and protection. Perfect option for forest loving folks. Night time attacks would be hard to prevent, however.
The tallest building in Louisiana, if you can get this structure on lockdown, you have great ability to foresee any dangers coming your way. Of course, this is in the middle of downtown New Orleans, so you would have to contend with the city dwellers before you could secure this spot.
So, given all these places, I’m sure that if/when the zombies come, Louisianaians will be well-prepared. Plus, we already have food and supplies stocked up in preparation for hurricanes! Let us know what you think in the comments below!
