The 604,000 acres of beautiful hardwood bottoms and piney hills are divided up into five ranger districts: Calcasieu, Caney, Catahoula, Kisatchie, and Winn.

There are more than 40 developed recreation sites and over 100 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking.

This loop trail is just shy of 10 miles and considered moderately difficult, but it’s definitely worth the extra effort to explore.

As far as Louisiana trails go, this one is slightly more challenging. Keep in mind that the trail may get a bit muddy if you hike it shortly after it rains.
