There are so many amazing towns in Louisiana. There’s no question about it. But there really are some that stand out among the rest. After researching and visiting so many small towns in Louisiana over the past few years, it can be hard to choose just one that is more unique than any other. But after checking out Minden, Louisiana, there’s no question this town has something that most towns just don’t. Here’s all there is to enjoy in this incredible place.
Minden, LA is east of Shreveport, between Gibsland and Doyline.
Driving down the main streets of this town, you wouldn't guess that it's one of the most unique places in Louisiana. To start with, the town has kept a steady population of close to 13,000 since 1960.
The town has been incorporated in the United States since before the Civil War, in 1839.
The town is actually rich in so much history, having its own newspaper since the 1850s. Currently, it's served by the Minden Press-Herald, which offers up the news surrounding the town.

The town also has rich culture. One of the most fascinating aspects of the town is the way that they keep in touch with their German roots.
This utopian society settlement was the most successful in the area. One of the best parts of visiting Minden is that you can visit the Germantown Colony Museum and learn all about the history here.
It's filled historic furniture that is nicely arranged and makes for a really beautiful atmosphere.
The Dorcheat Historical Museum is another great place to explore in the town. It's truly one of the most well designed and kept historic museums in any small town in Louisiana.
Go ahead and plan to make a special visit to this unique town. We think you are going to love it!
Doesn’t Minden look fascinating? It’s so intriguing to me the way they have kept up with their German heritage after so many years while still maintaining a close relationship with their roots in the south.
